Negative regulation of dE2F1 by cyclin-dependent kinases controls cell cycle timing

Article Abstract:

Different types of cells replicate their chromosomes in S phase and separate them during mitosis and studies were conducted to show that when cells in drosophila wing discs are delayed in G1 they maintain their normal acceleration passage through S and G2. It was found that the compensation mechanism uses negative feedback, in which cyclin-dependant kinases downregulate the transcription factor, which activates the Cdks to propel dive cell progression.

From cell structure to transcription: Hippo forges a new path

Article Abstract:

The cytoskeletal proteins which play a role in cell adhesion and structure, control the activation of the Hippo/Salvador kinase complex, which in turn activates the Warts/Mats kinase complex. Warts/Mats kinase phosphorylates and inhibits Yorkie, a transcriptional coactivator that positively regulates cell grown, survival and proliferation.

Regeneration and transdetermination: New tricks from old cells

Article Abstract:

A longstanding question in regeneration biology regarding the way pluripotency is achieved during regeneration is addressed. The cell cycle and growth characteristics of multipotent regenerating and transdetermining Drosophila cells are examined.
