Nitrite reductase genes (nirK and nirS) as functional markers to investigate diversity of denitrifying bacteria in Pacific Northwest marine sediment communities

Article Abstract:

Nitrite reductase genes (nirK and nirS) have been used as functional markers in the study of diversity of Pacific Northwest marine sediment communities denitrifying bacteria. It was found that a very high degree of diversity exists in nir sequences in small samples and that the novel clusters, are not known in cultivated denitrifiers. Some are very different from known sequences.

Nitrite reductase genes (nirK and nirS) as functional markers to investigate diversity of denitrifying bacteria in Pacific northwest marine sediment communities

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on the denitrifying bacteria genetic heterogeneity. The use of the single-copy genes that code for nitrite reductases as denitrifyng bacteria molecular markers is discussed.

Molecular diversity of denitrifying genes in continental margin sediments within the oxygen-deficient zone off the Pacific Coast of Mexico

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on denitrifying communities occupying oxygen-deficient zone off the Pacific Coast of Mexico. The authors have invstigated the composition and structure of these communities via the study of molecular diversity of genes obtained from the sediments using PCR-based cloning approach.
