No intelligent design, no $

Article Abstract:

Canada's Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) rejected $40, 000 (Canadian) grants to Brian Alters for not providing sufficient evidence to defend his own theory of evolution. Alters had applied for grants form SSHRC to study the effects of intelligent design debates in the U.S. on Canadian students, teachers, administrators and policy makers, however, according to SSHRC he failed to adequately justify for the assumption in the proposal that the theory of evolution and not intelligent design theory was correct.

For mTOR, clarification and confusion

Article Abstract:

Two laboratories have discovered a mammalian component of mammalian target of rapamycin 2 (mTOR2), the rapamycin-insensitive complex. The mutliprotein complexes, mTORC1 and mTORC2, are found to be interesting because mTOR's binding partner has defined two distinct pathways.

Auxin receptor hides in plain sight

Article Abstract:

Researchers have discovered that the transport inhibitor response 1 (TIR1) protein bound auxin to regulate gene transcription. The crystal structure of TIR1 complexed with auxin has shown how a small molecule like auxin might regulate the activity of an ubiquitin ligase.
