PCR detection of cyclic lipodepsinonapeptide-producing Pseudomonas syringae pv. syringae and similarity of strains

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted using PCR protocols and oligonucleotide primers taken from the coding sequences of the syrB and syrD genes to rapidly and accurately detect cyclic lipodepsinonapeptide (CLP)-producing bacteria. PCR amplified products from the syrB genes in 27 Pseudomonas syringae strains were also examined. Results revealed that many strains of P. syringae produce one of four classes of CLP such as syringomycins, syringostatins, syringotoxins or pseudomycins. Comparisons of 400 nucleotides from the syrB PCR-amplified fragments revealed 94% plot similarity among 27 strains.

Triacylglycerol profiles of Tilletia controversa and Tilletia tritici

Article Abstract:

The differences in the germination characteristics of Tilletia controversa and Tilletia tritici was studied. This involves the utilization of high-performance liquid chromatography and gas-liquid chromatography on the triacylglycerol profiles of the fungi. The ratio of the major components and their acid content were compared. The utility of differentiating the two was demonstrated.

Development and use of flow cytometry for detection of airborne fungi

Article Abstract:

Traditional methods for the enumeration of airborne fungi are slow, tedious, and rather imprecise. The possibility of using flow cytometry (FCM) for the assessment of exposure to the fungus aerosol is evaluated.
