Photodynamic inactivation of Bacillus spores, mediated by phenothiazinium dyes

Article Abstract:

The efficient photoinactivation (PDI) of Bacillus spores, including those closely related to anthrax, mediated by members of the family of phenothiazinium dyes is described. Candidate antimicrobial photosensitizers (PS) are examined for their ability to mediate the light-induced destruction of bacterial spores.

A rapid and efficient method for cloning genes of type II restriction-modifications systems by use of a killer plasmid

Article Abstract:

A method for cloning restriction-modification (R-M) systems based on the use of a lethal plasmid (pKILLER) is discussed. Results suggest that the new method is useful for cloning two R-M systems, BstZ1II from bacillus stearothermophilus 14P and Csp231I from Citrobacter sp. strain RFL231.
