Development of catechol 2,3-dioxygenase-specific primers for monitoring bioremediation by competitive quantitative PCR

Article Abstract:

Results describe development of specific primers for detecting genes involved in the biodegradation of aromatic compounds in the environment. Data reveal that deoxygenase-specific primers can detect catechol 2,3-dioxygenase genes in petroleum-amended soils.

Phylogenetic analysis of bacterial communities in mesophilic and thermophilic bioreactors treating pharmaceutical wastewater

Article Abstract:

Research describes bacterial community structures of a industrial wastewater treatment facility, consisting of four thermophilically operating and three low temperature operating reactors, by denaturing gel electrophoresis combined with PCR and cloning techniques. Similar populations of bacterial species were observed under both conditions but relative species distribution was different.
