Pleitropic role of quorum-sensing anti-inducer 2 in Photorhabdus luminescenes

Article Abstract:

The global expression profiling the wild-type entomopathogenic Photorhabdus luminescenes subsp. laumondii TT01 was compared to a luxS-deficient mutant unable to synthesize the type 2 quorum-sensing inducer AI-2. The luxS-deficient strain exhibited decreased biofilm production and increased type IV/V pilus-dependent twitching motility while AI-2 activated its own synthesis and transport and AI-2 was found to be involved in early steps of insect invasion in P.luminescens.

Nickel-resistant determination from Leptospirollim ferriphilum

Article Abstract:

The characterization of the metal resistance of a new strain, Leptospirillum ferriphilum UBK03, cloning of its nickel resistance determinant and the analysis of the functions of the genes are presented. The mutation experiments have shown that the genes ncrA, ncrB, and ncrC might present nickel resistance in Escherichia coli, whereas the gene ncrY might have negative impact on nickel resistance.

Development of a novel genetic system to create markerless deletion mutants of Bdellovibrio bacteriovorus

Article Abstract:

The article discusses about the development of a genetic technique for gene inactivation by construction of in-frame markless deletion mutants including the use of a counterselectable Bdellovibrio bacteriovorus. This genetic system facilitates the study of Bdellovibrio bacteriovorus at the molecular level.
