Purification, characterization, gene cloning, and sequencing of a new beta-glucosidase from bacillus circulans subsp. alkalophilus

Article Abstract:

The utilization of NAD affinity and high performance anion-exchange chromatographies for the purification of a new intracellular beta-glucosidase from cell extracts of Bacillus circulans subsp. alkalophilus is discussed. This nzyme was marked for its active nature against various aryl-beta-glucosides and beta-linked disaccharides. Cloning of the beta-glucosidase as a structural gene from Escherichia coli was conducted. A satisfactory likeness was derived.

Biotransformation of the antimelanoma agent betulinic acid by Bacillus megaterium ATCC 13368

Article Abstract:

Research reveals that biotransformation of the antimelanoma agent betulinic acid in Bacillus megaterium ATCC 13368 produces 4 metabolites. Data on the cytotoxicity of the metabolites indicate that the antimelanoma activity of betulinic acid is affected by its oxidation at different sites of the compound.

Cloning and sequencing of an alkaline protease gene from Bacillus lentus and amplification of the gene on the B. lentus chromosome by an improved technique

Article Abstract:

Research describes cloning and sequencing a gene encoding an alkaline protease in Bacillus lentus. Data indicate that the cloned gene increases the copy number of the protease gene as shown by an improved gene amplification technique.
