Regression-based prediction of net energy expenditure in children performing activities at high altitude

Article Abstract:

A simple, safe and affordable method was used for estimating the energy expenditure (EE) by children during activities performed at a high altitude, taking into account their oxygen consumption (VO2) from heart rate (HR). Twenty children between trsrhe age groups of 8 and 13 years were the source of this experiment and it was found that the equation produced using VO2 and HR measurements can be used to estimate the EE from HR in these free-living children.

Role of depth in eye distance measurements: comparison of single and stereo-photogrammetry

Article Abstract:

A study of facial quantitative assessment is required in several clinical applications to monitor growth, plan surgery and diagnose genetic syndromes. A comparison taken of a single and a stereo photogrammetry measurement on 10 facial distances showed that a single photograph was prone to errors due to misalignment of the camera, however in a stereo photogrammetry, means and standard deviations were larger.

Empirically derived new equations for calculating body fat percentage based on skinfold thickness and midarm circumference in preschool Indian children

Article Abstract:

Equations are derived for calculating the percentage of body fat based on the skinfold thickness and midarm circumference in preschool Indian children. The equations could be helpful in the accurate and rapid determination of the percentage of body fat in South Asian children.
