Relevant double mutations in bioengineered Streptomyces clavuligerus deacetoxycephalosporin C synthase result in higher binding specificities which improve penicillin bioconversion

Article Abstract:

Single mutations of six amino acid residues are paired to examine their effects on enzyme catalysis. The studies have described the structure-function interaction of Streptomyces clavuligerus deacetoxycephalosporin C synthase (ScDAOCS) with different penicillin substrates.

Sensitivity of an Acinetobacter baylyi mpl mutant to DNA damage

Article Abstract:

A mutant obtained from Acinetobacter baylyi ADP1 is isolated from a screen for genes involved in the response to DNA damage. The insertion in the mpl gene, which has encoded a peptidoglycan-recycling protein, has rendered cells sensitive to mitomycin C and to ultraviolet.

Newly discovered penicillin acylase activity of aculeacin A acylase from actinoplanes utahensis

Article Abstract:

Aculeacin A acylase from Actinoplanes utahensis produced by Streptomyces lividans reveals acylase activities that are able to hydrolyze penicillin V and several natural aliphatic penicillins. Penicillin K is the best substrate which shows a catalytic efficiency.
