Sequence Variation and Gene Duplication at MHC DQB Loci of Baiji (Lipotes vexillifer), a Chinese River Dolphin

Article Abstract:

Amino acid and nucleotide sequences in the endangered Chinese river dolphin Baiji show a comparatively high degree of similarity to narwhal and beluga whale, and no insertion, deletion, or exceptional stop codon was found. Forty-three alleles were grouped into two lineages using neighbor joining phylogenetic reconstruction. Implications to pathogen resistance are mentioned.

Sparse and Wavy Hair: A New Model for Hypoplasia of Hair Follicle and Mammary Glands on Rat Chromosome 17

Article Abstract:

Research indicates that sparse wavy hair in rats is a novel genetic mutation associated with skin appendage development impairment, including sebaceous glands, mammary glands, and hair follicles, and may be useful as an experimental model to clarify skin appendage development genes and mechanisms.

High Diversity of the Chicken Growth Hormone Gene and Effects on Growth and Carcass Traits

Article Abstract:

Single nucleotide polymorphisms were researched for four divergent chicken breeds. Data on body weight, shank length, and average daily gain are presented, and the difference in growth-related quantitative trait locus is analyzed.
