Sequencing and analysis of the prolate-headed lactococcal bacteriophage c2 genome and identification of the structural genes

Article Abstract:

Genome sequence of the 22163-bp lactococcal prolate-headed phage c2 genome indicates the presence of 22 open reading frames located in the early gene region and 17 on the late gene region. Putative genes for a DNA polymerase, a transcription regulation factor, a sigma factor protein, three major and eight minor structural proteins are present. Many of these proteins seem to be modified by proteolytic cleavage. Two of the major proteins are the main phage head proteins. The third major protein is a tail protein and one of the minor proteins is the tail adsorption protein.

Extracellular expression of a functional recombinant Ganoderma lucidium immunomodulatory protein by Bacillus sublitis and Lactococcus lactis

Article Abstract:

A novel gene coding for recombinant Ling Zhi-8 (LZ-8), recombinant LZ-8, is designed by using the preferred codons for both Bacillus subtilis and Lactococcus lactis and synthesized by overlap extension PCR (OE-PCR). Recombinant LZ-8s are purified from the extracellular media and used in cytokine stimulation assays in order to examine the immunomodulatory functions of the proteins from various recombinant sources.
