Sexual dimorphism in the relationship between number of emerged permanent teeth and percentage of adult stature

Article Abstract:

This article examines a sample of Japanese boys and girls to determine if there is a difference, based upon the relationship between age and the eruption of permanent teeth, between both sexes. Findings shows that no sex difference was observed in number of permanent teeth emerged. When variables were combined data indicated a sex difference in erupted teeth directly related to the adult stature attained.

Smoking during pregnancy and components of stature in offspring

Article Abstract:

The association between maternal smoking during pregnancy and offspring height and its components is examined. It is concluded that maternal smoking at any time during pregnancy reduces offspring height and its components, particularly, leg length and leg-to-trunk ratio at age 7.5.
