Siderophore-mediated iron uptake in Saccharomyces cerevisiae: the SIT1 gene encodes a ferrioxamine B permease that belongs to the major facilitator superfamily

Article Abstract:

The utilization of a deltafet3deltafet4 double mutant was explained to examine the mechanisms by which Saccharomyces cerevisiae takes up iron-siderophore complexes. The primary process of iron uptake in Saccharomyces cerevisiae initiates with the decrease of ferric iron at the cell surface. It was observed that the siderophore-influenced transport system of S. cerevisiae was regulated by the availability of iron but did not rely on the Aft1p transcription factor. The organism's non-reductive and reductive transport systems were regulated independently.

The cadmium-stress stimulon of Escherichia coli K-12

Article Abstract:

The presence of cadmium induces a cascade of response in Escherichia coli that culminates in the production of stress proteins. Several stress proteins have been identified and has been designated as immediate response proteins induced by exposure to cadmium. Some of these proteins have been sequenced and characterized. Stressed E. coli cells have been observed to have a shorter recovery period after secondary stresses.
