Signal-induced ubiquitination of I(kappa)B(alpha) by the F-box protein slimb/beta-TrCP

Article Abstract:

Studies support the theory that the specificity determinant for I(kappa)B(alpha) signal-induced ubiquitination is slimb/beta-TrCP. Genetic and biochemical data derived from Drosophila experimentation show that signal-induced degradation of I(kappa)B(alpha) is inhibited by beta-TrCP mutants in which the F-box is lacking. Slimb-deficient embryos fail to activate genes regulated by a process dependent on I(kappa)B(alpha).

Fused-Costal2 protein complex regulates Hedgehog-induced Smo phosphorylation and cell- surface accumulation

Article Abstract:

A novel feedback mechanism that regulates Smo through the Fused-Costal2 (Fu-Cos2) complex is presented. The data suggest that Cos2- Smo interaction blocks Hh-induced Smo phosphorylation and Fu promotes Smo phosphorylation by antagonizing Cos2.
