Skin reflectance of lowland Bolivian youths of European ancestry

Article Abstract:

Skin reflectances of inner upper arms and foreheads of European-Bolivian youths living in Santa Cruz, Bolivia have been recorded. Males tended to be significantly darker than females on the arm area and to darken significantly with age for both spots. Females tended to be lighter with age on the arm, but not significantly, and significantly darker on the forehead. Results of a principal components analysis were similar to those of a prior study of highland Bolivians of Aymara ancestry. Maternal and paternal surnames, Spanish/non-Spanish, were related to results.
