Spectral and bout detection analysis of physical activity patterns in healthy, prepubertal boys and girls

Article Abstract:

A widely held belief that physical activity occurs more in children and adolescents than in adults is increasingly being supported by scientific investigation. A study administered to 8 girls and 7 boys aged 6-10 revealed that high intensity bouts tended to be longer and accounted for 40% of the energy expenditure in children. These findings will be useful in investigating the impact of disease on children's quality of life, the relationship between physical activity and growth, and creating new approaches for in-laboratory exercise testing.

Reported frequency of physical activity, fitness, and fatness in Kuwait

Article Abstract:

The frequency of physical activity, fitness and fatness was studied in the oil-rich state of Kuwait, where abundance of food, comforts and leisure has given rise to a sedentary form of life. 84 females and 72 males were chosen for this study and the result showed that both, men and women, needed to exercise at least 3 times/week.
