Characterization of the gene for factor C, an extracellular signal protein involved in morphological differentiation of Streptomyces griseus

Article Abstract:

The gene for factor C (facC), an extracellular signal protein which is a factor in Streptomyces griseus morphological differentiation, is discussed. The complete nucleotide sequence has been determined and the deduced amino aced sequence confirmed. The protein is made up of 324 amino acids, and the predicted molecular mass is 34523 Da.

Involvement of amfC in physiological and morphological development in Streptomyces coelicolor A3(2)

Article Abstract:

The roles of amfC, which plays a regulatory role in aerial mycelium formation in Streptomyces griseus, in morphological and physiological development in Streptomyces coelicolor A3(2) are discussed. Disrupting the chromosomal amfC gene in S. coelicolor A3(2) greatly reduces formation of aerial hyphae.
