Stromal fibroblasts present in invasive human breast carcinomas promote tumor growth and angiogenesis through elevated SDF-1/CXCL12 secretion

Article Abstract:

The carcinoma -associated fibroblasts (CAFs) extracted from human breast carcinomas promotes the growth of admixed breast carcinoma cells significantly more than normal mammary fibroblasts derived from the same patients. The demonstration showed that the fibroblasts within invasive breast carcinomas contribute to tumor promotion in large part through the secretion of SDF-1.

A lost generation

Article Abstract:

The funding policies of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) have made it very difficult for young researchers to procure research funds for basic biomedical research. The difficulties faced by the young researchers while obtaining their first R01 award from the NIH are discussed.
