Survival of Shewanella oneidensis MR-1 after UV radiation exposure

Article Abstract:

The physiological response and the DNA damage repair and damage tolerance in Shewanella oneidensis MR-1 following UVC, UVB, UVA and solar light exposure are discussed. Results show that loss of damage inducibility of the nucleotide excision repair (NER) system appears to contribute to the high sensitivity of Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacterium to UVR as well as to other DNA-damaging agents.

Mutations of the Corynebacterium glutamicum NCgl1221 gene, encoding a mechanosensitive channel homolog, induce L-Glutamic acid production

Article Abstract:

Treatments that induce L-glutamic acid secretion alter membrane tension and trigger a structural transformation of the Corynebacterium glutamicum NCgl1221 protein enabling it to export L-glutamic acid is proposed. It is suggested that the NCgl1221 gene encodes an L-glutamic acid exporter.
