Article Abstract:

The Tecplot software package allows for real-time analysis of the structure of data. It divides plotting functions into mesh, contour, XY, vector, shade, scatter, and sketches. It is very effective in dealing with irregularly spaced data. A special function of the software is 'ZONEs' which allow the user to produce composite plots such as 3D wire mesh plot with 2D contour plot slices. This function is very useful for the user in visually studying the data. It is more suited for engineering applications because it will integrate a vector field and plot the path.

Origin: Technical Graphics and Data Analysis in Windows, version 3.5 is an excellent technical data plotting and analysis program for science as opposed to business-oriented programs. However, some of its flexibility in correcting or revising graphs could bring up ethical issues. The documentation is largely too technical to enable the novice to use the more complex features such as LabTalk but the tutorial is sufficient to generate complex plots with multiple axes and panels.
