The Drosophila SDE3 homolog armitage is required for oskar mRNA silencing and embryonic axis specification

Article Abstract:

Asymmetric mRNA localization produces protein concentrations that are important to a lot of processes and polarization of microtubule cytoskeleton during early oogenesis is necessary to specify the posterior of Drosophila oocyte that is needed for asymmetric mRNA localization. The mutations in armitage and three components of RNAi pathway disrupt oskar mRNA translational silencing and polarization of microtubule cytoskeleton.

In vivo analysis of Drosophila bicoid mRNA localization reveals a novel microtubule-dependent axis specification pathway

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on the Drosophila bicoid mRNA synthesized in the nurse cells and transported to the oocyte. The theory suggesting that microtubule-dependent Exuperantia-bicoid mRNA complex formation in the nurse cell cytoplasm allows the anterior-specific transport on the nonpolar oocyte microtubule networks has been tested and the details are presented.

A role for the segment polarity gene shaggy/GSK-3 in the Drosophila circadian clock

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on the Drosophila circadian locomotor activity cycle. The reduction of the glycogen synthase kinase/glycogen synthase kinase-3 activity has been investigated and the results have demonstrated the role for this activity in TIMELESS phosphorylation and in the regulated nuclear translocation of the PERIOD/TIMELESS heterodimer.
