The EGF receptor provides an essential survivial signal for SOS-dependent skin tumor development

Article Abstract:

Results show that transgenic mice expressing Son of Sevenless dominant gene in basal keratinocytes develop skin tumors. Data further reveal that tumor development is impaired in cells lacking epidermal growth factor receptor suggesting to its role as a survivival factor in the tumorigenesis.

The mammalian UV response: c-Jun induction is required for exit from p53-imposed growth arrest

Article Abstract:

Results demonstrate that the ultraviolet regulated gene c-jun protects cells during irradiation enabling them reenter cell-cycle and undergo apoptotic process. Data reveal that c-jun's function is negatively regulated by the combination of p53 and p21 promoters.

DNA-PKcs is required for activation of innate immunity by immunostimulatory DNA

Article Abstract:

Research demonstrates that immunostimulatory effect of bacterial DNA and synthetic oligonucleotides stimulate innate immunity. Data point out that DNA-dependent protein kinase and IKKbeta produce cytokine during immunostimulation suggesting a possible link between DNA repair and innate immunity.
