The Vibrio cholerae O1 chromosomal integron

Article Abstract:

The Vibrio cholerae O1 chromosomal integron is discussed. The cloning of the ends of large cassette arrays has been investigated and a method developed. Data of the study help in identification of par of a new class 5 integron from V. mimicus. Until the discovery of the vibrio cholerae repeat (VCR), the gene capture and expression systems called integrons were associated in general with antibiotic resistance gene cassettes with fewer than five genes, usually, in an array.

Genetic relationships between clinical and environmental Vibrio cholerae isolates based on multilocus enzyme electrophoresis

Article Abstract:

Genetic relationships between environmental and clinical Vibrio cholerae isolates are discussed based on study with multilocus enzyme electrophoresis (MLEE) of 107 isolates of the organism , including 28 stains of the serogroup O139. Results show the O139 and O1 ElTor isolates are genetically closer to each other than to the other subpopulations of V. cholerae studied.

Bacterial chromosome segregation

Article Abstract:

This review reexamines the widely held concepts about chromosome segregation during cell division and discusses specific mechanisms involved in the active partition of chromosomes. Data on termination of chromosome replication, chromosome decatenation, and chromosome separation are presented drawing from the researches on Bacillus subtilis and Escherichia coli.
