The antifungal protein AFP from Aspergillus giganteus inhibits chitin synthesis in sensitive fungi

Article Abstract:

Several analyses are used to show that the N-terminal domain of the antifungal protein AFP from Aspergillus giganteus is responsible for efficient binding of AFP to chitin, but it is not enough for inhibiting the growth of sensitive fungi. The results have shown that AFP has induced cell wall stress and also the cell wall integrity (CWI) pathway in the AFP-sensitive fungus Aspergillus niger.

Spatial variation in frequency and intensity of antibiotic interactions among streptomycetes from prairie soil

Article Abstract:

Antibiotic activity is known to affect interactions among soil microbes but very little information is available on the ecology of antibiotic microbial population in soil. To understand this activity better the abilities of streptomycete isolates from prairie soil were studied.
