The loop domain of heat shock transcription factor 1 dictates DNA-binding specificity and responses to heat stress

Article Abstract:

The loop domain of heat shock transcription factor (HSF) 1 has been found to determine DNA-binding specificity and heat stress responses. The mechanistic basis for differences between HSF1 and HSF2 in DNA binding to the hsp70 heat shock elements (HSEs) and its effect on transcription has been studied. HSPs are heat shock proteins.

Redox regulation of mammalian heat shock factor 1 is essential for Hsp gene activation and protection from stress

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on mammalian heat shock factor 1. The authors suggest that the redox-dependent activation of this factor by hydrogen peroxide and heat establishes a mechanism of stress activation of heat shock protein gene expression by mammalian heat shock factor 1.

Chaperone HSP27 inhibits translation during heat shock by binding eIF4G and facilitating dissociation of cap-initiation complexes

Article Abstract:

Chaperone HSP27 has been found to inhibit mRNA translation in heat shock by facilitating dissociation of cap-initiation complexes and by binding eIF4G. A novel molecular mechanism for inhibition of protein synthesis in heat shock has been found.
