The need for biodefense standards

Article Abstract:

The American Type Culture Collection (ATCC) convened the Expert Panel on the Development of Standards for Biodefense in Washington, DC, in early April 2006 to develop biological consensus standards to generate product development for biodefense-related diagnostics, therapeutics, and reagents. The meeting represented a launching point for a process that would culminate in the development of voluntary consensus standards for critical materials and protocols for biodefense-related research and product development.

Giving back

Article Abstract:

All the biotechnology, pharmaceutical and related companies feel a great deal of commitments towards their employees and their region and hence contribute a lot of time, healthcare and many other facilities to them and the communities around them. The companies reduce their employees' time and cost barriers to give them healthier lifestyles, which leads to a quality and hard-working workforce that then contributes to the development of the state.

A master regulator in the brain

Article Abstract:

Scientists have found a single protein that links schizophrenia and depression to drugs of abuse and addiction. The dopamine- and cAMP-regulated phosphoprotein, Mr 32kDa (DARPP-32), has contributed to the etiology of many common neuropsychiatric disorders and it has enabled the researchers to investigate the cell populations, protein kinases and phosphoprotein substrates that mediate the actions of drug abuse, neuroleptics and antidepressants.
