The ntrB and ntrC genes are involved in the regulation of poly-3-hydroxybutyrate biosynthesis by ammonia in Azospirillum brasilense Sp7

Article Abstract:

Mutants of Azospirillum brasilense Sp7 can produce poly-3-hydroxybutyrate (PHB) in the presence of high ammonia concentrations unlike the wild type. PHB is of commercial interest because it is a plastic compound produced by some bacteria that is biodegradable and biocompatible.

Quantitative analysis of bacterial gene expression by using the gusA reporter gene system

Article Abstract:

Researchers have developed a model to measure the influence of oxygen on gene expression. This model can be used to measure the influence of any external signal on gene expression. Gene expression is commonly measured by fusing a reporter gene to the gene under observation.

Decrease in cell surface galactose residues of Schizosaccharomyces pombe enhances its coflocculation with Pediococcus demnosus

Article Abstract:

Mannose residues on the surface of some yeasts can interact with lectin-type sugar receptors on neighboring cells, which causes the cells to flocculate. However, the mannose residues are usually blocked by galactose residues.
