Transcripts of the genes sacB, amyE, sacC and csn expressed in Bacillus subtilis under the control of the 5' untranslated sacR region display different stabilities that can be modulated

Article Abstract:

Transcripts of the genes sacB, amyE, sacC and csn expressed in Bacillus subtilis are discussed. They are under the control of the 5' untranslated sacR region and have been found to display different stabilities that can be modulated. The mRNA steady-state level might be controlled by mRNA decay and/or translation mechanisms might be adapted to a certain growth phase. To test the hypothesis, the transcriptional efficiency of the gene fusions and the stability of the resulting transcripts were studied. Chitosanase was added to the study.

yveB, encoding endolevanase LevB, is part of the sacB-yveB-yveA levansucrase tricistronic operon in Bacillus subtilis

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on the transcription of the clustered genes on the Bacillus subtilis chromosome. The results indicate that sacB which encodes levansucrase is a proximal sucrose-inducible operon gene.

Kinetics of the secretion of Bacillus subtilis levanase overproduced during the exponential phase of growth

Article Abstract:

The Bacillus subtilis levanase structural gene sacC was expressed under the regulated control of sacR, the inducible levansucrase leader region, in a degU32(Hy) strain. Comparison of the findings with those previously observed with levansucrase and alpha-amylase overproduced in the same genetic and physiological situation, indicated that the precursor processing is more efficient in levanase and alpha-amylase than in levansucrase.
