What does conservation genetics matter?

Article Abstract:

The importance of conservation genetics is discussed in this short review article. Genetic threats facing declining populations are considered with focus on empirial stidies and the emerging questions raised by them. Slow erosion of gnetic variability by drift and short-term owering of fittness because of inbreeding depression are apparently the two obvious main threats, with inbreeding depression the more potent of hte two. There are other aspects not as obvious

The ecological genetics of aliphatic glucosinolates

Article Abstract:

The ecological genetics of aliphatic glucosinolates, plant secondary metabolites from methionine in Brassicaceae and related families, are discussed in this short review article. It appears that polymorphism for aliphatic glucosinolates in natural populations offers a system for the study of ecological genetics of plant-herbivore interactions.

More QTL for flowering time revealed by substitution lines in Brassica oleracea

Article Abstract:

Quantitative trait loci analysis of flowering behavior in 79 recombinant backcross substitution lines of brassica oleracea show that 23 lines significantly differing from the parent strain. Suggestions for improving the substitution line analytical method are presented.
