A Comparison of Work and Nonwork Predictors of Life Satisfaction

Article Abstract:

Subjects in this study were at least sixteen years old and worked a minimum of twenty hours per week. They were surveyed on factors including: working conditions, living conditions, job satisfaction, family satisfaction, and free time activities satisfaction. Job satisfaction and working conditions contribute little to an explanation of life satisfaction. More important to theories of life satisfaction are the satisfiers.

A Longitudinal Analysis of the Antecedents of Organizational Commitment

Article Abstract:

Organizational commitment (OC) is a desire to stay with the company. It is also characterized by an identification with the goals of the company and a willingness to exert effort on the job. It is related to turnover, absenteeism, and job performance. OC is an antecedent to job satisfaction, not an outcome of it.
