A call for ethically-centered management
Article Abstract:
A responsible management system will be able to avoid disasters such as the one suffered by the manufacturers of the Hubble Space Telescope. The telescope was produced with a flaw that resulted when the company involved in its manufacture failed to monitor quality during the production process. Managers may also fail to discover problems early when they refuse to listen to employees and other experts consulted for the purpose.

Call for a Line-Item Veto
Article Abstract:
In 1972, President Nixon claimed the right to impound funds appropriated by Congress. This act sparked a controversy between the executive and the legislative branches that continues today (May 1984). In January 1984, President Reagan called for a line-item veto - the power to veto items in an appropriations bill.

Long range planning for call centres at FedEx
Article Abstract:
Forecasts prepared for FedEx call centres are presented. The methodologies adopted in four areas of forecasting are described, namely the tactical forecast, the business plan, the operational forecast and the strategic plan. Details of the users and applications of the forecasts are discussed.
