Various legally-binding agreements are usually done in the form of oral contracts. One must be prudent when entering into contracts for he may inadvertently enter into contracts without knowing it. Contracts should be signed when the parties are properly identified. The offer, delivery and manner of payment, cancellation and penalty clauses should be specifically stated. The warranties and specific conditions should be expressed and provisions in case of default are included. It is always recommended to obtain advice first before signing contracts.

The unlimited marital deduction may be used to avoid federal estate taxes upon the death of the first spouse. One must also be very careful about holding assets in joint ownership with another person other than his or her spouse. A list should be made of one's major assets should be made. A lawyer must be consulted in determining which assets should be held jointly.

How to Put Aside More Money for Retirement

Article Abstract:

The 1982 tax law reduced the limits on retirement plan contributions. Special arrangements outside the company can be developed for top personnel. A deferred compensation plan has many advantages. The advantages and disadvantages of such a plan are listed. Money put aside for such a plan cannot be put in escrow or it will be taxable immediately.
