A taxonomy of internationally dispersed technology units and its application to management issues

Article Abstract:

A new classification of internationally dispersed technology units was tackled. Three dimensions which served as basis for the taxonomy are: type of technical work; functional areas with which the technology unit cooperates in its task; and geographic area of collaboration. Meanwhile, the eight types of technology units are Local Research, Local Development, Local Marketing Support, Local Manufacturing Support, International Research, International Development, International Marketing Support and International Manufacturing Support.

The R&D Management Conference 1998. Technology strategy and strategic alliances

Article Abstract:

The R&D Management Conference held in Avila, Spain from Sep 30 to Oct 2, 1998 was one of the first and most established conferences in R&D management field. On the first day of the meeting, keynote speaker Arnoud De Meyer of INSEAD outlined factors that are vital in the success of technology partnerships. He also discussed five case studies which illustrate why strategic partnership sometimes fail. A roundtable discussion was also conducted to assess the role of technology alliances in public programs.

Second European Summer School on Management of Technology

Article Abstract:

The Second European Summer School on Management of Technology was held at the University of Kiel, Germany from Aug 17 to 29, 1992. Doctoral students and professors of technology and innovation management gathered together to discuss their current research. The conference aimed to keep the participants updated on technology management, to enable graduate students to have their doctoral research discussed and to foster cooperation among young European researchers.
