A theoretical model of manufacturing lead times and their relationship to a manufacturing goal hierarchy

Article Abstract:

Manufacturing goals include quality, delivery cost, flexibility, dependability and cost efficiency, and a manufacturing system model was created representing the relationships between manufacturing programs and goals. From the model a hierarchy of manufacturing goals is derived. The analysis allows practicing managers to create programs that will improve manufacturing competitiveness.
