A youth-influenced anti-smoking effort doesn't mince words

Article Abstract:

Crispin Porter and Bogusky (Miami, FL) has launched a new hard-hitting ad campaign aimed to discourage smoking among teens. The ads are the next phase in a plan formerly known as the Florida Pilot Program on Tobacco Control, which was financed by tobacco companies in accordance with a lawsuit settlement with the State of Florida. The ads will appear on television, radio, print, outdoor and interactive online outlets. The states of California, Arizona, New York and Massachusetts also are sponsoring anti-smoking ads in an era in which cigarette advertising is declining while counter-ads are rising.

P&G takes a most unusual tack with its new, in-your-face ads

Article Abstract:

Traditional Procter and Gamble with its traditional Noxzema brand skin cream is trying out something non-traditional in the way of advertising: a variety of backwards print ads framed and hanging across from mirrors in women's public bathrooms in New York City. The messages say, "It's not the lighting," or "He must really love you for your inner beauty," and other lines that could be taken as just a teeny weeny bit insulting. But also refreshing. Which is what the company wants to do with the brand that has been around forever.
