Article Abstract:

Academy of Management Journal has completed fifty years and the way to study the history of the Journal in assisting one to learn more about management research in general is discussed. It is felt that management research has not grown proportionately to research in sociology, psychology and economics over a period of time.

Sorting and incentive effects of pay for performance: An experimental investigation

Article Abstract:

A comparative study of two prevalent pay schemes, fixed-salary compensation and pay for performance is presented. In pay for performance, the salary is systematically tied to the output as an incentive for more productive employees, thus resolving agency problems.
