Alaska fishermen in protest blockade

Article Abstract:

Alaskan fishermen set up a blockade of oil tankers in Prince William Sound to protest the environmental damage caused by the 1989 'Exxon Valdez' oil spill and Exxon Corp's poor response. Only $19 million of the $240 million contributed by Exxon had gone toward restoration projects.

Officials denounce 'Exxon Valdez' study

Researchers from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Assn disagreed with Exxon Corp's report on the 1989 'Exxon Valdez' oil spill. Exxon claimed that 73% to 91% of the shores of Prince William Sound had recovered from the spill.

Serbian president orders blockade against Bosnian Serbs, opposes referendum on peace plan

Serbian Pres Milosevic responded to the Bosnian Serbs' rejection of a United Nations-supported peace plan by banning the delivery of all supplies except medical and food supplies to Bosnian Serbs from Serbia on May 6, 1993.
