Cordiant shares rocket on takeover talk

Article Abstract:

London-based Cordiant Communications Group claims it is not in talks with anyone about a merger or acquisition, denying a report in Adweek that True North is talking with the ad agency. Only a month ago WPP Group seemed to be sniffing out the situation. Some of the agency's clients are Volkswagen, British American Tobacco and Hyundai. Growth plans include increasing its North American share from a little more than 25% to 30% of total billings.

Quinlan's next show will break the mold

Article Abstract:

Mary Lou Quinlan announced she is turning the CEO duties at N.W. Ayer over to president Mary Beth Casey. Quinlan says the focus group called "Just Ask a Woman" provides her with more opportunity for creative expression, something she is ready to delve into at this point in her life. When the program concept is ready to pitch to broadcasters, she will still be in her realm; she's been married to an independent television producer for years.
