In strategy shift, Apple expands product offerings

Apple Computer presents the G4 Cube, the industry's smallest processer, 8 inches, containing a supercomputer unrivaled in power, for $1,799 or $2,299. Steve Jobs took the MacWorld Conference and Expo in New York to present his company's new strategy with the presentation of 4 new iMac colors and a price decrease. The Power Mac G4 has been upgraded and iMovie software has a new version. the G4 Cube should appeal to professional users and medium and small businesses. The Cube has a special cooling system so that its mighty processor won't overheat.

Apple unveils upgraded line of iBook laptops

Article Abstract:

Apple Computer Inc. is jumping the holiday season early with the sale of its Mac OS X, an iBook upgrade, available for $29.95 through Apple's online store. The new iBooks will cost between $1,499 and $1,799 with iMovie 2 software and "FireWire" ports. The iBook Special Edition will be able to show DVD movies. Apple is also offering a hgih-speed graphics card on its computers for an extra $100, enticing to game players.

Apple banks on OS X to restore reputation for innovative software

Article Abstract:

Apple Computer Inc. is unveiling its Mac OS X with the hope that the operating system will rebuild the company's market share that has been lagging at about 3% in the software market. Avie Tevanian helped develop the OS X which allows a user to keep working on applications even if one crashes. It also allows for multitasking, like writing e-mail while downloading. The cost is $129 requiring 128 memory megabytes and a G3 or G4 processor. Disc burning and DVD applications will be included perhaps by summer.
