New Internet appliances are simple but lack functionality. Lack of group e-mail addressing capability is a major drawback. The computer industry has yet to come out with a home computer that is neither too complicated nor too simplistic.

Slump in tech sales signals a transition to a post-PC world

As is obvious by the December 2000 Nasdaq reports, the high-technology industry is in a slump. It is believed that the digital age is going through a significant transition but we are not quite sure where we are headed and we are not positive how long the downward trend will last.

This Internet plan throws in a new PC and hand-holding

PeoplePC is offering an opportunity to sign up for three years of Internet access for $25 a month, including a fully-equipped personal computer, 24-hour technical support and in-home repairs. The innovative service will provide customers with a 15-inch monitor, a 366 Mhz Intel Celeron processor, 64 megabytes of memory, a 6 gigabyte hard drive, CD-ROM and floppy drives and a 56 kilobit modem. As an option, PeoplePC is offering a buying club service that will allow subscribers discounts on purchases, a service the company hopes to profit from.
