Assessing the impact of alternative manufacturing layouts in a service setting

Article Abstract:

The use of two alternative systems, including a modified assembly line approach and a cellular manufacturing approach for improving the overall operation of the American Red Cross blood collection center is analyzed. The study reveals that, in order to improve the overall performance of the service process the manufacturing layout has to be designed in sync with customer mix and system performance.

Assessing the impact of environmental management systems on corporate and environmental performance

Article Abstract:

Corporate activities, aimed at reducing or eliminating the waste created during the production, use and disposal of their products are on the rise. The Environment Management Systems, and the direct and indirect relationship between these systems and performance, should be investigated.
