BHP casts a wide net to land a big fish

Broken Hill Proprietary Co Ltd (BHP) has contracted with Heidrick & Struggles, executive recruiters, to find a successor to ceo John Prescott. BHP chairman Jerry Ellis is considering a successful American executive, possibly an Australian expatriate, with experience in cyclical industries. The qualifications of several outstanding executives, both Australian and foreign, are evaluated.
