BNL defendant subpoenas Bush

Article Abstract:

Drogoul's lawyers subpoenaed Bush to testify that the US government was aware of $5 billion in illegal Iraqi bank loans. The Clinton Administration's decision to drop the majority of the charges suggested that the US government had known about the loans.

Law firm settles with RTC

Jones, Day, Reavis and Pogue reached a $51-million settlement with the RTC on Apr 19, 1993, in a case that charged the law firm with fraudulent activities related to Lincoln Savings and Loan Assn. The trial had been scheduled for Apr 19-23, 1993.

CIA, Justice Dept. clash over Iraq loan probe

CIA officials stated that the Justice Dept pressured them to withhold important information in the investigation of bank fraud and illegal loans to Iraq. The withheld information pertained to the involvement of Banca Nazionale del Lavoro.
