Article Abstract:

Most of the banks in the US Midwest have completed testing for Year 2000 compliance, but the public is still not convinced that banks have not been that informative concerning the situation. There have been more bank mergers during the 2nd qtr of 1999, and lower interest rates are having an impact on banks, as well. Few Midwestern bank stocks are expected to outperform the market in 1999 and the year 2000, or through the years 2002-2004.
