Berlusconi arrest sought

Berlusconi was indicted for bribery in connection with his media company, Gruppo Fininvest SpA, for allegedly paying more than $200,000 in bribes to evade taxes between 1989 and 1991. Berlusconi claims the indictment is a result of political pressure, and that he had no knowledge of such activity.

Marseilles soccer club 'fix' probed

Representatives of the Olympique Marseilles (OM) soccer team from France are charged with bribing players on another team to lower their level of play so that OM could have a chance to rest before the European Champions Cup finals. OM Mgr Jean-Pierre Bernes resigned.

NATO chief questioned as probe widens

Claes agreed to answer any questions Belgian authorities had regarding his conduct in a bribery scandal known as the Agusta affair. Investigators are tying to determine whether Claes knew about bribes offered by Agusta SpA to Belgian Socialist Party officials.
