British Design Comes of Age

Article Abstract:

In the past, Great Britain and British companies ignored design or relegated it to the bottom of their priorities list. That picture is changing in 1984. The government is promoting a campaign to educate companies in the benefits of design. Several designers are questioned about the role of design in the market today. United Kingdom businesses are more convinced now that design can elevate a company image. Many businesses still feel that design is not an important marketing tool. This attitude is not correct. Design companies are very market-oriented in 1984 in the United Kingdom. Design is a crucial element in the national regeneration of the country. More businesses are cutting back on production and beginning to double their marketing budgets. A wave of design-led business solutions is expected in the future.
