Pitting your wits against wiles of the virtual trophy bass

Article Abstract:

THQ Software's Bass Masters Classic: Tournament Edition and Sierra Sports's $29.95 Trophy Bass 2 Deluxe stand out among simulation games by allowing Internet users to compete in fishing tournaments against the world's top anglers. Bass Masters Classic simulates a professional environment through an over-the-shoulder view of the caster. Users can adjust the boat's position and casting target as well as study the depth finder for bottom structure changes. Trophy Bass 2 Deluxe can challenge users while stopping short of making catches impossible. Its offerings include a selection of 50 actual US lakes and impressive production values such as background sounds. Both games allow users to set the hook, or attempt to capture the fish after it strikes, by sweeping the mouse quickly. Bass Masters Classic's price ranges from $29.95 to $34.95.

Free Web music spreads from campus to office

Article Abstract:

As the circulation of both copyrighted and uncopyrighted music recordings via the Internet increases, the recording industry is meeting to develop a means of gaining control over this new means of distribution. Recently, a file containing a recording of Beethoven's 'Moonlight Sonata' was downloaded 100,000 times in a month, from the MP3.com Web site. The site owner's say download traffic has been peaking at 1 pm, leading them to speculate office workers are looking for something to listen to after lunch. It is likely the the Recording Industry Association of America will develop some kind of copyright-protected downloading standard by next Christmas. Meanwhile, the organization continues to aggressively pursue sites offering unauthorized content.
