Refining new paradigms by revisiting the basics

Article Abstract:

Business schools are leading the way in the development of more innovative and dynamic learning paradigms. These new paradigms can be more effective if they incorporate some basic concepts. They should focus on three critical aspects of students' development. These are personal knowledge and skills, good global citizenship and ability and eagerness to learn. Factors that are integral to viable institutions of higher learning include people, priorities, process and performance.

Ceilings in the reliability and validity of performance ratings: the case of expert raters

Article Abstract:

Ratings gathered from expert raters under nearly deal conditions (world class judges of the figure skating competition at the 1984 Olympics) were examined for evidence of reliability and validity. In general, the results suggest that the ceiling on rating reliability and validity may be higher than indicated by previous research. (Reprinted by permission of the publisher.)
