Article Abstract:

The restructuring measures undertaken in 2001 by Australia based Spicers Stationery Group, a subsidiary of PaperlinX are discussed. These measures helped the company to survive in the stiff competition from Indonesian and Chinese imports. The measures were suggested and implemented by Paul Sarant, a senior manager from PaperlinX.

Schwartz, former chief executive of Ernst & Young, is a firm believer in open door policy wherein nothing is hidden from staff. Schwartz believes it keeps the lines of communication open with staff.
